A Fast Song Lyrics (John R. Cash)
Spoken:
One night, I took my wife out to see Jack Clemence, - Premi'ˆšÂ®re Performance at the Exit Inn - he had his band together. I don't remember really anybody in the band, except Chuck Cocker, because the spotlight was only on Jack and Chuck and Chuck would often take a break or take the song over from Jack and maybe he sometimes forgets the words or forgets the arrangement of something.
Not that he was in a forgetful mood. But it was just one of those nights, you know, it was kind of a nervous Premi'ˆšÂ®re Performance like an opening night at the Exit Inn and he kept saying to Chuck, he said, I don't like that, let's do something fast. So all night long he didn't really do something fast, but Jack Clemence kept saying, I only hear a fast song. So a songwriter sometimes will do things in secret. That night, when I went home, three or four years ago, I wrote a song called, "A Fast Song", for Jack Clemence and it has never been recorded.
Sung:
Well, the only thing that'll move me now is a fast song Sung long, and barrellin' on And I don't wanna hear no cryin' all-gone-wrong song Kick it off and let's all pick a fast song
Chorus:
(Now) don't go bringin', singin, strummin' me no slow tune Stay away from all that moonin' (B) June-spoon-croon tune (A)Throw me one that's flyin' and I'll hang on I'll come in on my part on a fast song
Well, it don't have to have a banjo or mandolin But let it in if it wants in Keep the rosin handy and the horsehair tough and tight Pick it up and I'm liable to pick all night
Chorus:(All, but) Chorus:(Oh,)
