Phil Keaggy Album: The Uncle Duke Project Track: Hut City
Hut City Lyrics
Our hut was made from a 2 x 4 That was salvaged from the last World War It sets in sand that is two feet deep And through its walls the bugs do creep
The beds are made of soft feather down When you sit on the springs they sag to the ground The floor is made of high polished flax Between the boards there are four inch cracks
They can have it for the rest of their lives They can have it for the rest of their lives
The lighting system is really rare A ten watt bulb with a two foot glare On the windows hang Venetian blinds With built-in dust from an anthracite mine
The tarpaper walls are really a sight You smash into the side in the dead of night Our bags are hung upon the wall You crack your skull if you're four feet tall
They can have it for the rest of their lives They can have it for the rest of their lives
The sandy bunks are not so annoying As the sergeants the corporals keep on employing We all arise at a quarter to four It's a two mile dash to the outside door
At four o'clock sharp we're back to our dreams With a broken leg and a flooded latrine So this my friend is the army life And they can have it for the rest of their lives And they can have it for the rest of their lives
