'There are so many ways to talk about our salvation. Quite often we use the picture of being freed, and the use of legal language etc. But in this song I decided to use the picture of being healed, and the use of some medical language, for example talking of the mercy of Jesus being a 'cure that can save us'.
While writing this song I met a young worship leader in the USA named Ed Horn. I actually met him in a hospital where he was being treated for cancer, and that meeting really spoke to me. From his beaming smile and full on heart of praise, you wouldn't have known he was dying, hence the lyric saying though outwardly I may waste away, on the inside I'll be more alive every day. Ed is no longer with us. He is safe in the arms of Jesus now - that big beaming smile more radiant than ever no doubt.' - Matt Redman
