Patrice Wilson Biography

"She is definitely ready to be exposed at the national level. I anticipate God will do great things through her in the gospel music industry."- Vanessa Vaughn of "Inspirations Across America."

"It's mellow and reaches the heart." - Willie McClendon of WJTT-FM Chattanooga, TN.

The above quotes would not have existed if a chance meeting with the cousin of Dr. Nathaniel Johnson, owner and founder of Atlanta-based-label Tulut Entertainment, and new artist Patrice Wilson, did not occur. Fortunately the meeting went well and now Wilson is gearing up to release "SACRAFICE." A joy-filled testament to her personal faith with infectious adult contemporary grooves and soothing ballads filled with lyrical messages of hope, inspiration, devotion and celebration.

Influenced by CeCe Winans, Whitney Houston, Baby Face, and Yolanda Adams the Houston, Texas native began singing at five years old. "I would sing to my grandmother while sitting on the back porch of her house and I participated in all choral events and talent shows throughout my formative years."

Working with producers HR Crump (Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child, Men Of Standard, Solange, B2K, and others) and Alvin Williams (Michelle Williams, Marvin Sapp, Shirley Caesar, New Direction), Patrice Wilson has created an album that is filled with R&B tunes and heartfelt ballads while maintaining the integrity of her spiritual message.

What keeps her driven are the people she sees daily who need a word form God and not knowing how to get it. "I know music has one of the greatest impacts on people around the world," she said. "Knowing that I have a great part of bringing them to Christ through my debut CD makes me want to run and faint not."

"I really love my entire project all of the songs are my favorite," she said. "But the ones that stand out the most would be My Sheep because I am one of Gods sheep and that means I'm very special to Him," she said. "This is one of the songs I wrote inspired by a dream I had about John chapter 10 where it speaks about being a sheep to a good shepherd."

"Secret Place is a favorite of mine also because I feel we all should have a place where we can go to God and pour out from within. My secret place is a storage closet that I decorated and converted into my prayer closet."

Listeners gravitate to her songs because she writes about issues that happen to everyday people. "My objective when writing is to capture the heart of the matter and allow the listener to know someone can identify with their issue good or bad. I want the song to become their story. My objective when singing is for the listener to see Christ and hear Him only because I am just a willing vessel bringing forth a message."

"A project that began in December 1999 has been directed by God before time," said Wilson.

In October 1999 she received a call from Dr. Johnson. He had listened to her demo and the first song he heard was Because He Lives. While listening he said instantly the song began ministering to him and wanted to know what Patrice wanted to do with her musical career.

"I told Dr. Johnson I wanted to record gospel music and travel the world sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ," she said. "Dr. Johnson then invited me to Atlanta to record a Christmas CD with other artists on the label. I went and recorded Sweet Little Jesus Boy. After, I began my project."

"I've compared this journey to having a baby," she said. "The first trimester was when I began recording the CD. I knew what God had called me to do and knowing this I focused on completing His will. The second trimester was to get the job done no matter what as long as I didn't compromise my salvation, in doing this God will separate the wheat from the tare. By this time I was moving towards my third trimester that allowed me to really see the forest in spite of the trees."

Although at times Wilson said having to hold on to her vision and moving at Gods pace was sometimes trying, in the third trimester she said her faith increased to a level she had never seen not only on her project but also in her personal life.

"When God shows you where you started and where you will end up, you often wonder what goes in the middle of this," she explains. "I have experienced hard work, praying and fasting and never closing my heart to my vision. I've waited for the delivery of this 'child.' The baby is truly in the birth canal and now the head is out, and soon everyone will experience what a perfect gift means when it can only come from God."

I have GREAT EXPECTATIONS for this project because I am trusting God to move like never before in the industry through this project. I expect lives to be changed. I expect broken homes to be put back together, and I expect many souls to be guided to Christ and back to Christ.

Whether it's Rick Joyner of the Sheridan Gospel Network's "The Light" sharing his thoughts, "A refreshingly beautiful song stress sure to have a major impact," or Ken Bell of ABC Radio saying, "She's a wonderful gospel artist and I look for great things in the near future from Patrice Wilson," her calm spirit and the seriousness about her ministry tell us that she is definitely headed in the right direction towards uplifting and blessing with "SACRAFICE."
